Kid Classes
Spark Studio’s Kid Classes (In Person or Zoom - you choose) are a terrific way for young artists (ages 7-13*) to explore and experiment as they make discoveries about the creative process and themselves.
I believe the heart of creativity is about listening to our inner voices so the art we make is a true reflection of who we are. Your kids will be nurtured and supported as they learn new skills and work in a variety of materials to create both two-dimensional and three-dimensional art. While there will be plenty of instruction on the variety of media, safe tool use, and principles of art and design, Spark Studio's “Creating Is Fun!” philosophy leaves plenty of room for creativity, free expression and, well...fun!
I find it works best if parents organize a group of 4-10 kids, and we work together to set a time that works for everyone. BONUS! Group organizer gets 50% off for one student for groups of 4 or more participants. Group classes are a wonderful way for kids to connect with friends and make art at the same time. If you're looking for more focused attention, semi-private (2-3 participants) and private classes are also a great option. Semi-Private Class fees are 1 1/2 times Standard Class fees. Private Class fees are twice Standard Class fees. Series Classes are 1 1/2 hours long and generally run for 6 week sessions. Individual Classes are 1 1/2 hours long and are great for parties and special occasions.

Animals, Monsters and Succulents...Oh My!
In this class, Art Club members will learn the technique of needle felting wool, and will make a mini animal, a mini monster and a potted succulent to take home. Nothing like poking fluffy wool into dense forms to get out some energy! Before starting to felt, young artists will draw their animals, not-so-scary monsters, and succulents, and then...Let the needle felting begin! They'll be thrilled to see their 2-dimensional drawings turn into mini 3-D sculptures. And you’ll be thrilled because you don’t have to feed or water them!

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall…
In this class Art Club members will be doing two-dimensional and three-dimensional self portraits using a variety of materials. They’ll start off exploring 3-D by making a sculpture of themselves using paper mâché. From there, young artists will explore 2-D by using a combination of drawing and painting techniques to make a self portrait. Then it’s not-so-literal time, where we’ll discuss the use of metaphor in art, and they'll "tell their story" using collage. Young artists will learn a variety of new techniques, gain a greater sense of themselves, and have lots of fun in the process!

Fun With Wood Burning!
In this class, Art Club members will be learning the technique of wood burning! Projects include customizing a wood treasure box, a cutting board and a spoon. Before starting each project, young artists will draw out their designs and practice working with new tools, then it’s time to jump in! At the end of six weeks, they'll have a custom box to store their treasures, a personalized cutting board for cutting their favorite foods and a custom spoon to stir with!

Make Prints!
In this class, Art Club members will be printing up a storm! Projects include printing a custom tote bag with a personalized custom stamp, making a potato printed dishtowel, and printmaking with objects from nature. By the end of the session, your kids will have knowledge of many types of printing and cool art to show for it!

Face Plant!
In this class, kids will be making a custom planter with a face as its design (not the falling on their faces kind of face plant...phew!). Once the planter is made, they’ll plant a succulent inside. It’s not only a fun project to make, it’s a fun object to brighten up your home!

Make a Unicorn Box!
Magical horses with horns that fly in a land of rainbows? No wonder unicorns are such a hit! In this class, kids will be designing their very own unicorn box replete with ears, flowers, pearls and a horn! They’ll also paint the inside in whichever way their heart desires. Long live unicorns!

Paint a Custom Treasure Box!
Calling all sports fans, nature fans, animal fans, and anything you like fans! In this class kids will design and paint their very own treasure box. Choose a theme...and they’re off! Great for memorabilia, card collecting, jewelry, or just a place to store their special treasures. All they’ll need to bring is their imagination - the rest is supplied!

All Mixed Up!
In this class kids will take inspiration from the Surrealist game, Exquisite Corpse, where each person makes a head, a body and legs. Unaware of what others are creating, participants trade their parts. When the three parts come together, it’s a wild mish-mash of collaboration and fun!
